A week or two back Pieter and I made the very long trip from George to my old home town Ladysmith in KwaZulu Natal for a very good friend of mine, Sophia’s wedding. We decided to take the Transkei road, and at first we thought we would do the whole 12 hour drive in one day. Haha, good thing we didn’t!
Although it felt that I would certainly die of the heat (no joke), the beautiful wild coast scenery made the whole trip worth it. We drove through parts of South Africa we have never been to before, and it was so refreshing to get to see something else other that the all to familiar Garden Route’s forests and landscapes.
The whole trip was quite an adventure. We saw many interesting stuff, visited friends, learned a few things and had to laugh at the silly situations you can sometimes find yourself in!
I have included a few photos of our trip. All these photos where taken from inside the car while driving. We didn’t have much time for site seeing unfortunately, but we diffidently want to do this again soon when we have more time to explore all the little towns and hidden places.

The rolling hills of the Eastern Cape. The Xhosa huts scattered over large open areas was a very a unfamiliar site to us.

This was taken at the Kei river. All along the road you could find people selling braai mielies.

On the way back to George. This is somewhere between Bethlehem and Bloemfontein. A long and boring road.

Taken with my cellphone. This is just before Graaff Reinet.

Also taken with my cellphone.
