Melinda & Martijn are from the Netherlands and decided to get married in Franschhoek where they got engaged. We started early in the morning and the wedding ran through the whole day till deep into the night, with no less than two ceremonies and three different venues! It’s such a wonderful way to celebrate your marriage and spend time with your guests. The day started with Melinda getting ready at Le Franschhoek where Martijn met her and they left together for the church in a sweet little Jaguar. Here is the interesting part; they didn’t get married during the church ceremony. A wonderful Xhosa gospel choir sang during the ceremony and had most people in tears.
After the ceremony everyone met up at La Bri where a wonderful South African style picnic was laid out for a lazy lunch. The guests also enjoyed a wine making tour and of course, a little wine tasting. Then we left for Mont Rochelle at the other end of town, where Melinda and Martijn where finally married in the garden with a view over the whole Franschhoek and another gospel choir singing :) How lovely, right? Afterwards canapés, champagne and some jazzy music where enjoyed on the terrace while watching Franschhoek change colour with the setting sun.
Then we were off to Dieu Donné, our last stop for the day, for the reception. Here guests enjoyed some more South African cuisine while the sun set behind the mountains.
This wedding was such an awesome experience for me. I’d love to do more all day weddings like this!
