In my quest to make my clients’ lives easier, I have compiled a list of Frequently Asked Questions…
How would you describe your style of photography?
I have a documentary approach and like to tell the story of the day through the photos. My main focus is to capture all the emotions, expressions and little moments. My colour photos are rich in colour, but not overly processed. I have a great love for black and white photographs.
Could you please email me the prices for your packages?
Yes, of course! Please remember to let me know what your date is when enquiring. I need to know your date to ensure that I am available.
Do you provide the digital files?
Yes, I do. All my packages include high resolution copies of the photos in JPEG format on a USB drive. The photos are print ready and can be printed up to A3 in size. Always take your photos to a good printing lab for the best results.
Are you willing to travel?
Oh yes :) I’ll travel absolutely anywhere.
Where can I see more photos?
If you’d like to see what a full wedding gallery looks like, please let me know.
We have decided we would like to book you. What happens next?
Both the signed contract and a non-refundable booking fee of 30% of the quoted package are required to secure your date.
We would like to book your 8 hour package. What will be covered and is it enough time?
The 8 hour package is my most booked package and it is enough to cover most weddings. I usually start around an hour and a half before the ceremony. I find it easier to start with the decor photos, which takes around 20-30 minutes to do. Then I usually go to the groom for photos of him getting ready (putting on socks, shoes, cuff links, tie, jacket, etc). Around 20-30 minutes should be enough for this. I will then go to the bride for photos of her getting ready.
This is all made much easier if the bride and groom is getting ready at the same venue, or close by. I highly recommend getting ready at your venue, if possible. Driving around wastes precious time and can cause unnecessary headaches and stress for you ;)
When is the best time for our photos?
Light is very important for photos. The best time of the day for your photos after the ceremony is the hour before sunset, when the light is beautiful and soft. Ask me and I will let you know when this will be on your date.
How long after the wedding will see our photos?
Your online gallery will be up 8 weeks after your wedding. I will blog the wedding a few days later and let you know when the post is up.
Can we add additional hours to our package if the wedding runs a little long?
Absolutely. If I need to stay another 30 minutes longer, it’s not a problem. However, longer than this will be charged at R1200 an hour.
Can we upgrade our album or order additional albums after the wedding?
Yes, not a problem at all.
Will all of my photos be edited?
All the photos will be edited for exposure, contrast, sharpness, and colour. Some photos do get a little more love and attention.
You have documentary style, does that mean you don’t do family group photos or photos of just the two of us?
Although group photos are not my main focus, I know they are still an important part of most weddings. I try to keep the family group photos short and sweet. I will also do a mini photo session of the two of you alone. This is the perfect time for you to get away for a few minutes and to get a few more creative photos. I don’t need hours for this. Around 30 to 45 minutes should be enough. I know you’d much rather spend more time with your guests.
How many photos will we receive?
I work on an average of 50 delivered photos per hour. So usually between 400-600 photos for an eight hour wedding.
When will our album be ready?
I start with the layout of your album as soon as I’ve received your selection of +- 70 of favourite photos that are chosen from the online gallery. You can expect the first proof of the album two weeks after. I allow up to three album proofs with unlimited changes per draft to ensure you love your album. When you approve the final design, the album is sent to print with an estimated three week turnaround time.
Do you work with an assistant?
I prefer to work alone as it suits my style better.
Can we meet you before we book?
Yes, I’d love to meet you. I am available to meet Monday to Thursday between 9:00 and 20:00. If you would like to schedule a Skype meeting please let me know and we can talk about a suitable time.
When do we pay the final balance?
I will send you the invoice a week before the wedding. You are welcome to make the payment after the wedding. However no editing will be done until the balance has been paid.
How long will you keep my images on file?
I keep your photos on file for one year following your wedding or session.
Do you also do videography?
Nope, but I’ll be happy to refer you to videographers.
Do you do table photos?
I take as many photos of your guests during the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception as possible. I feel it’s very rude and intrusive to bother people for photos while they are eating.
Should we provide you with a meal on the day?
If I’m booked for more than 5 hours, then yes please :) I am a vegetarian. If this is a problem, please let me know before the wedding, so that I can make alternative arrangements.
Do we need to provide you with a shot list?
No, this isn’t necessary. I have done my fair share of weddings and I know what is important. If you have anything that is particular to your wedding, anything that is really special, different and will inform the coverage, please let me know about it.
