Welcome to my website!

Hi, I’m Annemari and welcome to my blog. I am a wedding photographer based in the beautiful Cape Town, South Africa.

Photography is my love and passion (after my gorgeous husband of course) and I am very blessed to have such an amazingly cool job.

I am a very relaxed and easy going kind of person and my style of photography reflects this. I like to be unobtrusive and blend in and I use natural light as much as I can. I don’t really like very formal and stiff, posed photos. I will give you direction though. But don’t be surprised if I ask you to “go stand over there and talk to each other” :)

I am always available and eager to chat about my photography and would love to hear about your plans for your wedding, so feel free to browse around and if you would like to get in contact with me, give me a call on (+27) 82 822 7197 or drop me an email at info@annemari.co.za

I am an active member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) and the Artistic Guild of the Wedding Photojournalist Association [AG]WPJA

A little dress trashing never hurt anyone

I am sure that, by now, everyone has heard of a Trash The Dress (TTD) photo shoot. It goes by a whole host of other silly names as well, like Rock The Frock and Fearless Bridal. The name Trash The Dress is actually misleading as the wedding dress is hardly ever really trashed, except if you want to go to extremes.

The basic idea of a shoot like this, is firstly to have some fun, to try something new and out of the box and then to get some awesome photos with you in your wedding dress that you would never have had otherwise (very few brides will readily jump in the ocean and climb over rocks on their wedding day – though I hope to meet one soon).

This post is an update from this one. The dress is mine. I got married in May and my sister, on holiday from college, offered to model for me. I personally think she just wanted to wear the dress and she likes being the center of attention much more than she’ll admit.

We headed off to Herolds Bay early in the morning and in only 30 minutes we got some amazing photos…

The dress actually came out cleaner after the session than it was before – the trail was still black with dirt from the wedding.  I have a few photos where Nicola was up to her arms in cold water, but overall we didn’t go crazy with the trashing. The beach was starting to get a little busy, and we had people gawking at us like we where totally crazy. I think we got some beautiful shots though!
